At least 50 Iranian oil tankers are currently stranded in the Persian Gulf near the Iranian coast, according to UANI. oilprice.com reported that the U.S. Navy reinstated a blockade in the Gulf of Oman in mid-July with the objective of driving Iranian oil exports to zero.
The blockade has effectively prevented tankers laden with crude oil, petroleum products, and liquefied petroleum gas from exiting through the Strait of Hormuz, with 16 vessels clustered near the key export terminal at Kharg Island. This naval action followed the collapse of diplomatic negotiations, resulting in zero oil loadings recorded in September according to tanker-tracking estimates.
