PR Newswire reported that the decision marks the official greenlight for subsidiary WBI Energy to proceed with construction, moving the project from a proposal to active development to expand infrastructure in the Bakken region.

MDU closed at $18.68 on September 29, 2026, prior to the announcement of the project which features an initial design capacity of 1.4 Bcf per day. Construction is expected to take place between 2028 and 2030, with total costs estimated between $2.7 billion and $3.2 billion to serve growing natural gas transportation demand.
