Centene Shares at $61.92, Two Months After a Q2 Return to Profit and a Higher 2026 Outlook

Centene (CNC) reported second-quarter 2026 total revenue of $53.579 billion on July 28, up 9.9% from $48.742 billion a year earlier, according to its earnings release filed with the SEC. GAAP diluted EPS was $2.19 and adjusted diluted EPS was $2.51, compared with a GAAP loss of $0.51 per share and an adjusted loss of $0.16 in the second quarter of 2025. The health benefits ratio fell to 89.6% from 93.0%, and cash flow from operations was $3.59 billion for the quarter.
The company raised its 2026 total revenue guidance by $6.0 billion to a range of $193.5 billion to $197.5 billion and lifted its EPS guidance floors to more than $3.11 on a GAAP basis and more than $4.80 adjusted. Centene said the higher outlook includes about $0.50 per share of non-recurring items in its Medicare and Commercial segments.
CNC closed at $61.92 on September 24, down 0.26% from the previous session's $62.08 close and below its September 21 close of $64.98.
