The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Property Index tracks the quarterly price movements of private residential properties in Singapore. It serves as a primary barometer for the health of the real estate sector, which is a significant component of national wealth and financial stability. Analysts monitor this index to gauge the effectiveness of government cooling measures and the overall demand in the housing market.
The index is calculated using transaction prices from caveats lodged with the Singapore Land Authority and data from surveys on licensed developers' sales.
