The Stanbic IBTC Bank Nigeria Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) provides an early indicator of operating conditions in the Nigerian private sector. The index is based on data compiled from monthly replies to questionnaires sent to purchasing managers in approximately 400 private sector companies. A reading above 50.0 indicates an overall increase in that variable, while a reading below 50.0 signals a decrease.
The headline PMI is a weighted average of five individual indices: New Orders (30%), Output (25%), Employment (20%), Suppliers’ Delivery Times (15%) and Stocks of Purchases (10%).
