Machinery Orders YoY is the year on year change, versus the same month 12 months earlier, in Japanese core machinery orders. Core orders are private sector orders excluding ships and electric power, the Cabinet Office gauge of autonomous capital spending, which means business investment in equipment. The Cabinet Office survey of 280 major machinery makers in Japan, running since April 1987, sums reported figures without scaling to national estimates. Totals cover engines, industrial machinery, machine tools, vehicles, aircraft, ships and parts, while mobile phones, in house components and consumption tax stay excluded.
