Retail Sales YoY measures yearly change in the EU volume of retail trade, an index of goods sold after removing price effects. Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, compiles it as part of short-term business statistics, a monthly system for fast economic signals. It covers shops in NACE Rev 2 Division 47, the retail code, and excludes wholesale, motor vehicles and the euro-area aggregate, a different country group. A positive rate means higher goods volume than one year earlier, with no fixed target level.
