The ZEW Current Conditions index measures the sentiment of institutional investors and analysts regarding the current economic situation in Germany. It is part of the ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment but focuses specifically on the present rather than future expectations. This indicator provides a snapshot of how the financial elite perceives the immediate health of Europe's largest economy.
The index is based on a survey of up to 350 financial experts. The result is calculated as the difference between the percentage of experts who assess the situation as 'good' and those who assess it as 'bad'.
