The Ifo Current Conditions index is a sub-component of the German Business Climate Index, assessing how businesses view their current economic situation. It is based on a survey of approximately 9,000 German firms in manufacturing, services, trade, and construction. A higher reading indicates that businesses are satisfied with the present economic environment in the Eurozone's largest economy.
Firms are asked to label their current business situation as 'good', 'satisfactory', or 'poor'. The index value is calculated as the balance of the percentages of 'good' and 'poor' responses.
