About This Indicator

Description

This report provides a comprehensive look at the total number of job advertisements across Australia, including both internet and traditional media. It serves as a primary gauge for labor demand and is closely watched by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) as part of its economic assessment. High levels of job advertising often correlate with future increases in consumer spending and overall GDP growth. It is one of the earliest indicators available for the labor sector each month.

Methodology

The index is calculated by surveying job advertisement volumes across multiple platforms and media outlets. The month-over-month percentage change is then derived after applying seasonal adjustment factors.
