The US August jobs report is due on Friday 4 September at 12:30 GMT, twelve days before the rate decision. We compiled every institutionally published forecast attributed to its author, finding six figures with a spread of 115 thousand jobs between the highest and lowest. We then measured the figure around which these forecasts cluster against its own record: consensus expects 58 thousand jobs, while the average subsequently deducted from the initial reading is 63.5 thousand — meaning the expected figure is smaller than its average revision.
