The highest yield since 2002 in US bank earnings: JPMorgan raises its interest income forecast by 0.7 billion dollars, while unrealized bond losses rise by 7.7 billion

Four of the largest US banks reported Q3 earnings on Tuesday 13 October, after a quarter that ended with the ten-year Treasury yield at 5.29%, its highest quarter-end level since March 2002. We compared their results with their pre-earnings disclosures on interest rate sensitivity, bond portfolio losses and management guidance, alongside EL7 stock scores, to identify what interest income gained, what portfolios and capital lost, and what awaits Bank of America and Morgan Stanley on Wednesday.
