On April 16, the National Initiative for American Space Nuclear Power (NSTM-3) was signed to develop a 20-kilowatt electric space reactor named 'SR-1 Freedom'. The initiative aims for an in-orbit demonstration by 2028 and a lunar surface installation by 2030.
