Amundi Tokenizes Share Class of Its €22.8 Billion European Fund on Ethereum
Key Facts
Amundi announced the launch of a tokenized share class for the Amundi Core STOXX Europe 600, expanding its use of blockchain technology from cash management to investment in European equities. The company said the share class was issued on the public Ethereum network and remains part of the fund’s existing operating model. The fund continues to be available through traditional distribution channels alongside the new share class. It tracks the STOXX Europe 600, which Amundi describes as a core portfolio-building strategy. The sub-fund has €22.8 billion in assets, according to Ledger Insights.
The solution was developed in partnership with CACEIS, which provides the technology and infrastructure for tokenizing the fund units. The move concerns a share class in the fund itself, while the fund continues to invest in the European equities tracked by the index. The index comprises 600 companies across 17 countries and 11 sectors, covering about 90% of the investable market in developed European economies. This breadth shows the range of exposure the fund provides compared with solutions focused on liquidity management. The published annual fee for the existing fund is 0.07%; this data does not, by itself, establish the terms of the tokenized share class.
Amundi says the new share class extends its tokenization program beyond cash management solutions to include index funds. In December 2025, the company launched the first tokenized share of its money market fund, AMUNDI FUNDS CASH EUR, in partnership with CACEIS, while continuing to make it available through traditional channels. In June 2026, Amundi, CACEIS and Ant International announced the launch of tokenized share classes for a short-term euro- and dollar-denominated money market fund for Ant International. The equity fund share class launch is therefore part of a series of initiatives involving cash products and different partnerships. Amundi manages assets of about €2.6 trillion as of September 30, 2026, according to its data.
The company says tokenization could enable the automation of some processes and improve access, settlement speed and transparency. It presented these as targeted benefits of the technology, without publishing quantitative operating results for this share class. It also said the tokenization pathway operates within a framework for regulatory compliance, operations and risk management. Amundi aims to develop a range of tokenized funds for its institutional clients and digital platforms. The announcement did not provide details on the size of the new share class or its eligible investor terms.
Amundi shares closed at €93.95 in Paris on November 6, 2026, according to EL7 data. The price offers a snapshot of the stock’s performance in the session before the news date, without the announcement establishing a direct link between the share price movement and the launch of the tokenized share class. The announced move remains tied to expanding the company’s digital fund infrastructure while keeping traditional channels available. The development of the targeted range of tokenized funds falls within the compliance, operations and risk management framework that Amundi said it follows.
