$546.2 Million Exits U.S. Crypto Funds on Nov. 5
Key Facts
U.S. spot cryptocurrency funds recorded net outflows of $546.2 million on Nov. 5, 2026, according to data from Crypto ETF. The total covered 16 assets, making it broader than bitcoin and ether funds alone. Bitcoin funds accounted for $430.2 million of net outflows, according to the site's breakdown. Spot ether funds recorded net outflows of $99.9 million in the same session. The figures came after the U.S. midterm elections, in which Democrats won control of both the House and the Senate, according to the Associated Press.
Flow data highlight a divergence in bitcoin fund activity over two consecutive trading days: the funds recorded net inflows of $74.6 million on Nov. 4 before swinging to net outflows the following day. According to T.F.T.C., spot bitcoin funds saw outflows of $869.8 million in November through Nov. 5, over four sessions. That coincided with bitcoin falling 6% to about $75,000 on Thursday, according to a Reuters report published by Investing.com. The Associated Press reported that the S&P 500 fell 4.4% in the session, its biggest drop since April 2025, while the Nasdaq declined 5.5%. The agency linked the stock selloff to concerns that data centers for artificial intelligence could face restrictions after Democratic victories, and said shares of companies involved in building those centers led the decline.
In the labor market, data published by the U.S. Labor Department on Nov. 5 showed seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims totaled 189,000 in the week ended Oct. 31. That was down 6,000 from the previous week's revised level, the department said. In another reading of bitcoin's session performance, an Investing.com report said the price fell 0.5% to $79,001.1 by 09:44 Eastern Time. The report said a weaker dollar and lower Treasury yields, along with falling oil prices, supported cryptocurrency prices. It also reported that regulatory uncertainty under the new Congress remained a concern for traders.
