Solventum reported on November 5 results for the fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2026, posting adjusted diluted earnings per share of $1.45, according to the company’s statement. Adjusted earnings were below $1.50 in the same period a year earlier, a year-over-year decline of 3.6%. Chief Executive Brian Hanson said quarterly results exceeded the company’s expectations and that every segment contributed to performance. The company reported results after the close of U.S. markets, as previously scheduled. The announcement came as sales continued to decline, making the increase in annual guidance a parallel focus alongside quarterly performance.

Sales totaled $1.949 billion, compared with $2.096 billion a year earlier, a reported decline of 7.0%, according to Solventum’s statement. On an organic basis, sales fell 2.8% during the quarter. The company attributed part of the decline to an expected 630-basis-point impact from reversing advance orders in the second quarter of 2026. Those orders had preceded the transition to an enterprise resource planning system, so their impact was reflected in the following quarter’s comparison. In the second quarter, organic sales grew 9.5%, and the company said at the time that strong performance across segments and orders placed ahead of system transitions had contributed to growth. This sequence puts the third-quarter decline in the context of comparison with a quarter that benefited from orders placed in advance, alongside pressure on sales.

Solventum raised its fiscal 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance range to $7.20–$7.30, from a previous range of $7.10–$7.20, according to the results statement. It also said it expects organic sales growth to be near the upper end of its 2.5%–3.0% range. The company kept its annual free cash flow outlook within a range of $200–$300 million. The update combines a higher earnings estimate with a limited range for expected organic growth. Hanson said results exceeded management’s expectations despite the completion of the company’s largest enterprise resource planning system transition. The company tied its updated guidance to quarterly performance and contributions from its segments, while reaffirming its free cash flow estimate.

Operating cash flow improved to $177 million in the third quarter, compared with $75 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Free cash flow was $97 million, versus negative free cash flow of $22 million a year earlier, according to company figures. The comparison shows an improvement in cash generated during the quarter alongside lower sales and adjusted earnings per share. Solventum cited an increase in gross margin under U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as on an adjusted basis. It attributed the improvement mainly to product portfolio optimization, product mix and savings programs. The company said those factors were partly offset by inflation and tariffs, while administrative expenses rose mainly because of restructuring costs.

Segment performance varied in the quarter, according to Solventum data. The Advanced Wound Care segment posted sales of $528 million, with organic growth of 1.5%. By contrast, organic sales in the Infection Prevention and Surgical Solutions segment fell 5.7%. Organic sales in the Dental Solutions segment also declined 7.4%. Hanson said every segment contributed to quarterly results, despite differing sales trends. The figures show that growth in wound care did not prevent organic sales declines in two other segments.

The results come as part of the company’s plan to optimize its portfolio and transform into a medical technology company, a plan that included announcing its intention to separate its Health Information Systems business in the second quarter. Solventum said it completed its enterprise resource planning system transitions and exited about 90% of its transition services agreements with 3M. Hanson linked the company’s performance above management expectations to contributions from its segments in the quarter despite completion of its largest technology transition. As for the stock, Solventum shares closed at $87.18 on November 5, 2026, according to EL7 data. The company scheduled its results discussion for the same day at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time, after the U.S. market close.
