Shoulder Innovations raised its fiscal 2026 outlook after recording revenue growth of 52% from the start of the year through September 30, according to its earnings release issued on November 5. Chief Executive Rob Ball said the performance allowed the company to "raise our full-year outlook once again." The company estimated that its new guidance range reflects annual growth of about 44% to 48% compared with 2025 revenue. The announcement coincided with results showing higher quarterly revenue, an increase in the number of implant systems sold and an improved gross margin. However, the company recorded a net loss and an adjusted loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization for the quarter.

The company reported net revenue of $16.2 million in the third quarter of 2026, up 38% from $11.8 million in the same period of 2025, according to the release. For the nine months ended September 30, net revenue reached $50.074 million, compared with $32.901 million in the same period a year earlier. Management said the quarterly increase was primarily driven by sales of a greater number of implant systems. The company attributed the growth to the addition of new surgeons and increased utilization among existing customers. The average selling price per implant system also rose to $7,616 in the quarter, up 2% year over year.

Shoulder Innovations sold a total of 2,126 implant systems in the third quarter, an increase of about 34% compared with the third quarter of 2025, according to the company release. The figure provides a measure of sales volume alongside revenue growth, which was also supported by a higher average selling price. Ball said the company added new surgeons faster than planned and increased sales volumes within its existing customer base. The company also attributed the revenue increase to higher selling prices for implant systems. These factors remain management's explanation of business performance, as stated in the earnings release.

Gross margin improved to 78.5% in the third quarter of 2026, from 76.2% a year earlier. The company attributed the improvement to higher selling prices for implant systems and cost-reduction programs. The adjusted loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization narrowed to $5.5 million, compared with a loss of $7.5 million in the third quarter of 2025. The company said higher gross profit was the main factor behind the narrower loss, partly offset by operating expenses. The net loss also narrowed to $7.0 million from $8.7 million in the year-earlier period. Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled $92.3 million as of September 30, 2026.

On the product front, the company received FDA 510(k) clearance for the N-22 humeral head and began its commercial launch. It said the product expands the N-22 line to include anatomic procedures for patients with metal sensitivities. It also said it had performed the first surgeries using InSet Go, the next-generation version of its anatomic InSet glenoid implant. The company also announced an exclusive partnership with ALM Ortho to develop augmented solutions for cases involving severe deformities or complex revision surgeries. In a separate legal move, it announced a settlement with Catalyst OrthoScience to end the existing patent disputes between the companies.

The company is heading into the final quarter of 2026 with a planned submission to the FDA for its InSet Neo robotic shoulder platform, according to its release. It included the submission in its plans for the next phase, alongside continued development of its business and products. The release had scheduled a call to discuss third-quarter results on November 5, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, or 1:30 p.m. Pacific time. Ball linked the higher outlook to commercial performance, saying the addition of new surgeons and increased volumes among existing customers supported the decision. The results thus combine revenue growth, improved margins and narrowing losses, while the company continues to report quarterly losses.
