Djurslands posts DKK 269 million in pre-tax profit in its best first nine months on record
Key Facts
Djurslands Bank said on 6 November that its pre-tax profit reached DKK 269 million in the first nine months of 2026, describing the period as the best of its kind in the bank’s history. The result was above DKK 251 million in the same period of 2025 and DKK 257 million in the first nine months of 2024. The bank said performance exceeded its expectations amid higher activity, business growth and a stronger housing market, cost control and continued low loan-loss provisions. This puts the period’s results in the context of a growing customer base and rising lending and deposits. The bank kept its full-year guidance, announced in October, rather than making a further adjustment alongside the results.
Core income totalled DKK 544 million in the first nine months of 2026, compared with DKK 501 million in the same period a year earlier. The bank attributed the results exceeding its expectations to higher activity and increased business volume, alongside developments in the housing market. It also cited cost control and continued low provisions as factors supporting the result. The bank’s statement presents these elements as part of its explanation for the period’s performance, alongside growth in its banking business. The statement in the evidence did not provide a separate numerical breakdown of each factor’s contribution to the result.
The bank recorded a net increase of 2,878 personal and business customers in the twelve months preceding its third-quarter results. Lending grew 16.5% year on year, while deposits rose 14.6%. This expansion accompanied the higher business volume the bank cited among the reasons its result exceeded expectations. The chief executive said activity was high and the bank continued to attract new customers, adding that customers generally had a sound financial footing. The customer, lending and deposit figures reflect the expansion of activity during the period ended in the third quarter.
On asset quality, provisions and impairment losses on loans and other receivables generated income of DKK 12 million in the first nine months of the year. The bank attributed this to continued high credit quality in its customer portfolio. The figure is consistent with the bank’s reference to continued low provisions among the factors that helped the result exceed expectations. The impact of provisions here also differed from a net charge against the result, as they generated income during the period. The bank did not link this in the cited materials to increased reserves against economic or agricultural uncertainty.
The bank said its market share in its operating area exceeded 10% in the third quarter, while its share in Aarhus approached 9%. This coincided with the net addition of customers and year-on-year growth in lending and deposits recorded by the bank. Net income from securities and other investments was DKK 3 million in the first nine months of 2026, compared with DKK 10 million in the corresponding period of 2025. This provides context on an investment line whose contribution declined from the previous year. In the first half of 2026, pre-tax profit had reached DKK 172 million, compared with DKK 138 million in the first half of 2025.
The bank maintained its 2026 pre-tax profit guidance at a range of DKK 325 million to DKK 355 million, the range it announced on 8 October. It said the guidance had been raised twice during the year, while the announcement of the nine-month results included no further revision. The bank attributed its October guidance increase to higher core income driven by the interest-rate environment, growth and activity, particularly in the housing market, as well as larger-than-expected pricing adjustments and strong credit quality. On 8 July, it had raised its guidance from a range of DKK 240 million to DKK 280 million to DKK 285 million to DKK 325 million, citing higher activity, growth, core income and credit quality. Keeping the range announced in October means the full-year guidance remained unchanged with the release of results through the end of the third quarter.
