Brookfield Infrastructure Partners reported results on November 6 for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, with funds from operations (FFO) of $717 million, up 10% from $654 million a year earlier. FFO per unit rose to $0.91, compared with $0.83 in the year-earlier period. The company said it was the third consecutive quarter in which it achieved its 10% FFO growth target. It attributed the performance to strong organic growth, inflation-linked price increases, higher asset utilization and the commissioning of capital projects. It added that projects worth about $1.4 billion entered service during the quarter.

The strongest sector increase came from data operations, where FFO rose 25% to $172 million. The company attributed the growth to the sector’s organic performance, including contributions from its partnership with Intel to develop semiconductor fabrication plants in Arizona, as well as a U.S. fiber network. Utilities, transport and midstream energy together, meanwhile, generated FFO growth of about 10%. The transport segment reported $315 million, up 10% year over year. The company said this reflected strong port handling volumes, higher toll road traffic and rates, as well as a contribution from its railcar leasing platform.

Midstream energy FFO rose 14% to $178 million. The company attributed the improvement to organic growth across the segment’s portfolio, higher asset utilization and commodity prices, as well as a contribution from its U.S. refined products pipeline system. The results position the segment alongside data and transport as a growth driver, as the company said portfolio growth benefits from inflation-linked pricing and newly commissioned assets. Higher asset utilization was among the factors management cited in support of overall FFO growth. Capital projects that entered service during the quarter were worth about $1.4 billion.

Net income did not keep pace with growth in funds from operations, reaching $69 million in the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared with $440 million a year earlier. The company said the decline was largely due to higher realized gains from asset sales in the prior period. The comparison therefore reflects a difference in disposition gains between the two periods, while annual FFO per unit rose from $0.83 to $0.91. The company presented FFO growth as a measure of its operating performance in the quarter, with growth continuing at 10% for a third consecutive quarter. The decline in net income does not change the operating comparison the company reported for funds from operations.

On capital allocation, Brookfield Infrastructure said it had deployed about $1.7 billion of equity since the start of the year and invested $1.9 billion in organic capital expenditures. It also generated about $1.5 billion in asset-sale proceeds and expects to exceed its annual asset recycling target of $2 billion. The company added that advanced asset sales could provide more than $1 billion in additional net proceeds to BIP before the end of 2026. These steps link the funding of new investments with the recycling of capital through asset dispositions. The timing of additional proceeds remains tied to completing those transactions before year-end.

In digital infrastructure investment, the company signed a partnership agreement with NAVER to develop sovereign artificial intelligence capabilities that include more than 200 megawatts of computing capacity. It said the project requires about $9 billion in capital, with an expected equity commitment of about $100 million net to BIP. The first GPU units are expected to be deployed in the first half of 2027, with deployment to be completed by the end of 2028. The project is part of the expansion of data operations, which recorded FFO growth of 25% during the quarter. The announcement of the implementation timeline is part of the company’s plans for the project, while contributions from the Intel partnership and fiber network remain sources of sector growth in the reported period.

The company is nearing a simplification of its corporate structure, with the transaction expected to close on November 19, 2026, and BIP Inc. expected to begin trading around November 23. Under the announced arrangement, holders of BIP units and BIPC shares will receive one share in the new company for each unit or share they hold. The company said it is not announcing a fourth-quarter 2026 distribution at this time because of the expected timing of the simplification. After closing, the new company intends, subject to approval by its board, to pay distributions in line with the current quarterly distribution of $0.455 per unit. In the market, BIPC shares closed at $37.92 on November 5, according to EL7 data.
