Prime Energy has commenced natural gas production from two new wells under the $1-billion Malampaya Phase 4 project in the Philippines. Bilyonaryo Business reported that the project aims to bolster energy security by unlocking an estimated 222 billion cubic feet of reserves, sufficient to meet the annual power needs of approximately 13.11 million Filipino households.
The expansion is expected to extend the field's productive life by about six years, with gas flowing from the Malampaya East-1 and Camago-3 wells to power plants serving the Luzon grid. This development occurred as the Philippines reported a year-on-year inflation rate of 7.8% on November 5, 2026, exceeding the forecasted 7.6%.
