Pakistan has invited international bids for two LNG cargoes for delivery in December and January. Arab News PK reported that the tender follows disruptions to Qatari supplies after an attack on the LNG carrier Al Mayeda near the Strait of Hormuz.

Spot LNG prices have surged to $33 per MMBTU, more than double the $14 per MMBTU previously paid by Pakistan. This price spike forces the country to replace its long-term contracted Qatari gas with expensive spot market purchases to prevent energy shortages during the peak winter season.
