RUNE Rises 8.24% on Nov. 3 as THORChain Upgrade Includes Trading Fixes
Key Facts
RUNE rose 8.24% on Nov. 3, closing at $0.604, according to Investing.com data. It traded between $0.546 and $0.604 during the day. Amid operational changes to the protocol, THORChain said its v3.21 release included fixes for trading issues on Solana and Zcash. The release also enabled the restart of limit swaps after a bug in the handling of unfunded orders was fixed. The available report did not confirm that the fixes or the resumption of trading on specific networks caused the token’s move that day.
The v3.21 upgrade added support for the new transaction format adopted by Solana after Bifrost’s inability to read it halted trading on the network, according to a THORChain statement. The protocol said the new compatibility removes the obstacle to resuming trading. It added that Zcash trading could resume after a fix to how outgoing transfers from the network are matched. The upgrade also included a fix for handling unfunded orders, allowing limit swaps to restart. These changes highlight how cross-network swaps depend on software compatibility and transaction-processing mechanisms.
In its third-quarter 2026 report, THORChain said it processed about $3.82 billion in trading and generated about $5.77 million in fees; both figures were close to double their levels in the second quarter. The report said September alone recorded trading volume of $2.41 billion. Flows linked to the Bitget platform hack passed through the network over five days that month. Between Sept. 25 and 29, trading volume reached about $1.38 billion, more than half of the monthly total. These figures provide prior operational context for RUNE’s move in November and do not, on their own, establish a connection to it.
The report said total liquidity rose from $54.58 million to $89.82 million during the third quarter. The number of active nodes also increased from 95 in July to 103 at the end of September, and total bonds reached 97.66 million RUNE. The third quarter was the network’s first full quarter since it resumed operations on June 22, 2026, according to the report. On subsequent launches, the report said Zcash trading was expected in October after its pool was created at the first successful node rotation. It added that Monero would follow with a gradual launch lasting several weeks, and that TAO was expected about six weeks after Monero.
According to the v3.21 upgrade report published on Oct. 21, 2026, Monero activation remained conditional on a follow-up release, v3.21.1. After that, the report said, integration would begin with a gradual test launch and limited initial liquidity. This condition places a prior technical schedule within the expansion path announced by the network. The third-quarter report presented its expectations for the Zcash, Monero and TAO launches in the context of the network’s plans published at the time. That, by itself, does not confirm that those timelines were met.
