The company said performance from Padcev and Mirabegron, alongside foreign exchange trends and cost management, contributed to the upward revision. First-half operating profit rose 58.8% to ¥316,556 million, compared with ¥199,378 million in the same period a year earlier. Profit attributable to owners of the parent also increased 63.7% to ¥241,677 million from ¥147,635 million. The results thus showed growth in revenue and profit during the period, alongside the company's higher full-year forecast.

The forecast revision included an increase in the fiscal-year operating profit estimate to ¥460,000 million from ¥395,000 million, a rise of 16.5%. Core operating profit in the first six months was ¥424,928 million, up 50.3% from ¥282,632 million a year earlier. The figures reflect different measures: reported operating profit was ¥316,556 million in the first half, while core operating profit was ¥424,928 million. The company attributed the higher forecasts to strong performance from Padcev and Mirabegron, foreign exchange movements and cost management. It raised its annual revenue estimate to ¥2,330,000 million from ¥2,220,000 million, an increase of ¥110,000 million, or 5%.

Strategic brands were among the sources of growth, with sales rising 51.4% to ¥333.9 billion in the first half. Padcev sales increased 54.5% to ¥158.3 billion, according to the company's results. Sales of Izervay rose 64.5% to ¥56.2 billion, while Veozah sales increased 72.7% to ¥45.9 billion. The results show sales growth across several products during the period, alongside the strong performance in Padcev and Mirabegron that the company cited in explaining the forecast revision. The figures in the release did not break out how much each product contributed individually to the higher annual estimates.

Revenue rose in all regions listed in the results, with the United States recording ¥576.8 billion, up 26.2% year over year. Revenue in Japan was ¥160.8 billion, up 12.5% from the same period a year earlier. The average yen-dollar exchange rate was ¥159 in the first half of fiscal 2026, compared with ¥146 in the corresponding period of fiscal 2025, which the company described as a weaker yen. Astellas said exchange rate changes added ¥99.3 billion to revenue and ¥41.2 billion to core operating profit compared with applying the previous period's rates. The company also said cash flow from operating activities fell ¥12.5 billion year over year to ¥270.1 billion in the first half.

The company recorded an impairment loss of ¥26.4 billion on intangible assets related to ASP5541 after halting its development in the second quarter of fiscal 2026. Basic earnings per share rose to ¥134.83 for the six months ended September 30 from ¥82.44 a year earlier, an increase of 63.5%.
