Nigeria Oil Production Surges to 1.8 Million BPD Following Industry Reforms
Key Facts
NNPC Limited announced that Nigeria's crude oil production rose by 600,000 barrels per day to reach 1.8 million barrels daily. Head Topics reported that this increase from the previous level of 1.2 million barrels was disclosed by Group CEO Bashir Bayo Ojulari, who attributed the surge to industry reforms and enhanced international collaboration.
The country is targeting a national production level of 2 million barrels per day by 2027, supported by the completion of major infrastructure projects such as the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben pipeline in August 2026. This significant supply increase from a major OPEC producer follows structural changes aimed at reversing years of underinvestment and competing for global energy capital.
