J.P. Morgan Private Bank has opened a dedicated wealth management branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre, expanding its presence in the UAE through banking activity subject to a local regulatory framework. The new branch is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority, The National reported on November 2. Karim Reggiki, the bank’s regional head for the Middle East, said the UAE and the wider region represent "an important and growing opportunity for us as a business and for our clients." His remarks frame the expansion in terms of the opportunities the bank sees in the region, without specifying revenue or asset targets for the branch. The bank also did not disclose financial forecasts tied to the opening.

The opening was preceded by a rapid expansion of the private banking team in Dubai, which grew to more than three times its size in the twelve months before final regulatory approval. The bank did not disclose the actual number of employees who joined the team, so the information released is limited to the scale and duration of the increase. The expansion indicates that local capacity-building began before final approval for the branch was completed. A larger team gives the bank a broader operating base for providing its private banking services in the UAE market. The team’s growth coincided with the establishment of the branch under the Dubai Financial Services Authority’s regulatory framework.

The bank described the branch as the latest milestone in a five-decade relationship between J.P. Morgan and the UAE. For 20 years, the bank has used the Dubai International Financial Centre as a regional base for its corporate and investment banking business, according to The National. The branch adds wealth management to its existing presence in the centre, while the background reflects the institutional relationship’s reach across more than one business line and period. The expansion comes as forecasts for growth in UAE wealth emerge as a factor shaping the market. But it does not in itself constitute a disclosure of assets managed by the bank or a targeted market share.

Figures cited by The National from Boston Consulting Group projected that net wealth in the UAE would reach $6 trillion by 2030. The estimates put annual growth at 10.6%, with more than $2.3 trillion added over five years. These figures provide context on the expanding wealth base in which private banks operate, while Reggiki links the UAE and the region to a growing opportunity for the bank and its clients. The forecasts remain estimates for wealth in the country, not J.P. Morgan financial results or stated targets for the branch. In trading on November 2, JPM shares closed at $340.58, according to EL7 data.
