JBT Marel shares fell 5.79% in premarket trading on November 3, 2026, following the release of its third-quarter results, according to Reuters. The decline came despite an increase in the company's net income and growth in adjusted EBITDA. Revenue, meanwhile, was $994 million, below analysts' estimate of $1.03 billion. Revenue fell 1% from the same period a year earlier, when it was $1.001 billion. The stock closed at $114.78 in the November 2 session, before the results were announced.

Net income was $70 million in the third quarter, up 6% year over year, while net income margin rose 30 basis points to 7.0%. Adjusted EBITDA reached $179 million, up 5% from the year-ago period. The adjusted EBITDA margin widened 90 basis points to a record 18.0%. CEO Brian Deck said the company delivered earnings and margins above the midpoint of its quarterly guidance. He added that this was achieved “despite lower volumes of business shipped after orders were recorded.”

The company's two segments had differing results in the quarter: Protein Solutions revenue rose 6% to $469 million, driven by higher poultry volumes. By contrast, Prepared Food and Beverage Solutions revenue fell 6% to $525 million. The company attributed the decline in overall revenue to lower shipments related to packaged consumer goods in that segment. The divergence puts growth in the protein segment against a contraction in the other segment, whose revenue accounted for more than half of total quarterly revenue. The results show that improved margins coincided with pressure on revenue and shipped volumes.

Deck attributed the margin improvement to cost synergy initiatives, including increased labor productivity, supply chain cost savings and an improved operating footprint. He said the company executed well in a changing environment, with adjusted earnings and margins exceeding the midpoint of guidance. But he pointed to lower volumes of business shipped after orders were recorded, consistent with the weakness in revenue shown in the results. The comparison between earnings growth and declining revenue highlights the effect of cost controls in supporting profitability during the quarter. Revenue had fallen from $1.001 billion a year earlier to $994 million in the current period.

For fiscal 2026, the company set a revenue range of $3.95 billion to $4.00 billion, with adjusted earnings per share of $8.10 to $8.40. The midpoint of the revenue range, $3.975 billion, is below analysts' consensus of $4.02 billion. The midpoint of the adjusted earnings-per-share range, $8.25, is above their estimate of $8.03. The guidance puts revenue below market expectations while projecting adjusted earnings per share above estimates. The company was scheduled to hold its earnings call on November 3 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, or 16:00 GMT.

The board announced a $500 million increase in its share repurchase authorization, bringing the program's total to $700 million. The announcement came as part of the third-quarter results package, alongside annual guidance that showed a divergence between revenue and adjusted earnings-per-share forecasts and analysts' consensus. The stock fell 5.79% in premarket trading after the results were released. It had closed at $114.78 in the session before the announcement. The November 3 earnings call is expected to give the company an opportunity to present details of its performance and guidance to investors.
