InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy announced the consolidation of their businesses in September 2026, forming an AI-powered insurance distribution platform that the companies said was India’s largest by premiums generated through its point-of-sale network in fiscal 2025-2026. A source described the transaction in October as a completed merger, making it a completed step rather than a new agreement. That figure does not represent the deal value; the companies did not disclose its financial terms. The description of the deal as worth nearly $1 billion is an estimate reported by a news source, not a financial value disclosed by the companies.

The claimed leading position relates specifically to premiums generated through the point-of-sale, or PoSP, network in fiscal 2025-2026. The metric does not describe an overall ranking across the entire Indian insurance market, but compares activity across the cited distribution network. The platform’s model relies on a network of advisers and points of sale connecting customers with insurers. The network is significant in a geographically broad market where the group aims to expand beyond urban centers. Premium volume therefore remains an indicator of activity distributed through the channels, not the financial consideration for the merger.

The combined business will operate under the InsuranceDekho brand, with its founder, Ankit Agrawal, serving as chief executive. The founders of both companies will remain in leadership roles, according to the announcement of the business consolidation. The entity thus brings existing teams and networks together under one management and brand. The platform offers more than 750 products from 52 insurers. The products include motor, health, life, travel and commercial insurance, giving the distribution network a broad range of categories.

Regulatory approval for the proposed combination dates to 7 November 2025, when the Competition Commission of India approved it under Section 31(1) of the Act. The commission concluded that the transaction was unlikely to harm competition in India. Its order said the parties’ shares in the two relevant markets it assessed were within the 0–5% range. It also noted the presence of other players in each of those markets. The approval provides regulatory context for the merger, which the companies announced the following year as a consolidation of their businesses.

Agrawal said the immediate priority is to integrate the adviser networks, technology platforms and insurer relationships of the two companies. He described the execution as requiring discipline, saying: "Integration is our immediate priority, and we are approaching it with disciplined execution." He added that the work involves bringing together three elements: "two adviser networks, two technology platforms and two sets of insurer relationships." Managing partner and customer relationships is therefore part of the execution challenge. He said the company aims to complete the integration without disrupting the experience of partners and customers.

The announced expansion plan includes improving access to villages, with Agrawal saying the entity currently reaches about 17,000-20,000 villages out of about 6.5 lakh villages in India. He said the goal should be to have an insurance adviser in every village. The company also plans to expand distribution to include insurance, mutual funds and loans. In terms of its physical presence, Agrawal announced a plan to open an office in a new town every few days. But he said the company could not provide further details about its future plans because it is undergoing an initial public offering process.
