Norma Group said on November 3 that currency-adjusted sales rose 4.2% year on year in the third quarter of 2026, bringing reported sales to 207.8 million euros, according to a company statement. Including the positive currency effect, reported sales increased 5.2% from the same quarter a year earlier. The strongest improvement came in adjusted operating profit, which rose to 7.8 million euros from 3.8 million euros in the third quarter of 2025. The adjusted operating profit margin also increased to 3.7%, compared with 1.9% a year earlier. The figures reflect an improvement in profitability that outpaced sales growth, with the company attributing the gains mainly to execution of its transformation program and improvements to its cost structure.

Performance across Norma’s divisions varied during the quarter. Sales in the Industrial Applications division grew 11.3% on a currency-adjusted basis, outpacing Mobility and New Energy, which recorded growth of 0.9%. The gap indicates that the group’s growth was uneven across its businesses, with Industrial Applications making a stronger contribution to the increase in adjusted sales. The figures in the statement do not justify generalizing the company’s performance to other European companies or treating its results as evidence of a broad-based recovery in markets. Estimates of earnings at Stoxx 600 companies published on October 16 had already pointed to a mixed sector picture. Analysts then expected aggregate quarterly earnings growth of 20.7%, led by energy companies, while earnings in consumer discretionary were expected to decline.

The estimate for earnings growth at index companies was slightly below the previous week’s forecast of 21%, while sales growth expectations rose to 11.0% from 10.6%. By sector, the earnings estimate for consumer discretionary was cut to a decline of 2.6%, after a forecast of 26% growth the previous week. By contrast, the estimate for energy earnings growth rose to 124.0% from 115.9%, and the estimate for technology earnings growth increased to 32.7% from 24.4%. Reuters quoted a Morningstar strategist as expecting “real divergence in earnings,” referring to differing trajectories across sectors. Reuters linked the cut to consumer discretionary earnings forecasts to lower deliveries by Volkswagen and BMW in the third quarter, attributing this mainly to weaker demand in China; it also cited pressure on companies from energy prices and weak consumer confidence.

Norma kept its 2026 forecasts unchanged, expecting group sales growth of between 0% and 2% and an adjusted operating profit margin of between 2% and 4%. It also forecast net operating cash flow of between 10 million and 20 million euros for the year. The annual guidance sets the bounds for sales, profitability and operating liquidity that the group is targeting as it continues to implement its transformation program and improve its cost structure. Its quarterly results come as European market forecasts show divergence between sectors rather than a uniform trend among companies. The company’s next performance report will be the next milestone for assessing results against its annual forecasts.
