Coloplast Posts Operating Profit of DKK 1,731 Million, Below Estimates; Shares Fall 3%
Key Facts
Coloplast reported fourth-quarter results for its 2025/26 financial year on November 2, covering the period ended September 30, with operating profit (EBIT) of DKK 1,731 million, below analysts’ estimate of DKK 2 billion. The stock fell about 3% after the announcement, according to an Investing.com report published on November 3. The results showed a divergence between revenue and profit: quarterly sales exceeded analysts’ estimates, while the EBIT margin narrowed from its level a year earlier. The company also lowered its organic growth outlook for the next financial year compared with the guidance it issued a year ago. The operating pressures cited by the company centered on the effects of currencies and inflation, and weaker activity in Biologics.
EBIT at constant exchange rates was DKK 1.73 billion, flat year over year but below the IBES estimate of DKK 2 billion, according to Investing.com. The EBIT margin fell to 25% from 28% in the year-earlier period, while the official report showed EBIT before special items of DKK 1,848 million, down 5% year over year. Reported EBIT was DKK 1,731 million, compared with DKK 1,724 million in the fourth quarter of 2024/25. The company said the quarter’s margin was negatively affected by about 150 basis points from currencies and a further 30 basis points from Kerecis. It added that inflation in raw material prices and freight costs increased pressure on the margin.
On revenue, the fourth quarter posted organic growth of 5%, with revenue of DKK 7.46 billion, above the IBES estimate of DKK 7.39 billion, according to Investing.com. The report attributed growth to strength in the Chronic Care and Interventional Urology businesses. By contrast, Biologics sales fell 12% during the quarter, with the effects of changes to outpatient reimbursement continuing, according to the company. Inpatient activity within Biologics maintained good momentum, delivering growth of around double digits. This divergence between businesses comes as weakness in Biologics weighed on profit despite quarterly revenue growth.
For the full financial year, organic growth was 6%, EBIT at constant exchange rates rose 4%, and reported revenue in kroner increased 4% to DKK 28,941 million, according to the official report. In the previous year’s results, the company had guided for organic growth of about 7% and EBIT growth at constant exchange rates of about 7% in 2025/26. The gap between the earlier guidance and the result puts the year’s performance in the context of the company’s revised outlook for the period ahead. In 2024/25, Coloplast estimated annual market growth for Interventional Urology products at 3% to 5% and put its global share at about 15%. Kerecis also recorded organic growth of 20% in the fourth quarter of 2024/25, according to the previous year’s report.
For the 2026/27 financial year, Coloplast expects organic revenue growth of between 5% and 7% and an EBIT margin of about 25%. It also targets reported revenue growth in kroner of between 7% and 9%, including a positive currency effect of about two percentage points. The company said cost inflation and the ramp-up of production in Portugal would weigh on gross margin, while increased investment would affect operating expenses. Its “Funding the Journey” program aims to release about DKK 500 million, with about 75% of the effect expected in 2026/27 and the full effect in 2027/28. The company also revised its 2030 financial ambition to annual organic growth of between 5% and 7% and an EBIT margin in the mid-20s.
The company had scheduled a conference call to discuss its financial-year results for November 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Central European Summer Time, with an expected duration of about an hour. The call follows the results announcement and new financial guidance for the coming year. The outlook combines organic growth above the rate in the financial year just ended with a target margin of about 25%. The company also specified an expected positive currency effect on reported revenue growth in kroner. Its longer-term target through 2030 remains annual organic growth of between 5% and 7% and an EBIT margin in the mid-20s.
