Bajaj Finserv reported a 25% year-on-year increase in consolidated profit after tax, including minority interests, to 5,952 crore rupees in the September 2026 quarter, from 4,746 crore rupees in the year-earlier period. That figure differs from profit attributable to the company’s owners, which rose 23% to 2,758 crore rupees from 2,244 crore rupees, according to a Moneycontrol report on the group’s results. Total consolidated income rose 17% to 43,416 crore rupees, compared with 37,215 crore rupees a year earlier. Consolidated income for the first half of fiscal 2027 was about 85,453 crore rupees, up 18%, according to a Business Today report. The results came amid mixed performance among subsidiaries: the lending company grew profit and assets, while general insurance profit declined.

Bajaj Finance, the group’s lending arm, performed better than the overall picture: its consolidated profit after tax rose 29% to 6,367 crore rupees in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, from 4,948 crore rupees a year earlier. Its assets under management grew 26% to 5.84 lakh crore rupees at the end of September. Asset-quality metrics also improved, with the gross non-performing asset ratio falling to 1.06% from 1.24% a year earlier, and the net non-performing asset ratio declining to 0.42% from 0.60%. By contrast, loan losses and provisions rose 4% to 2,166 crore rupees from 2,080 crore rupees. The total included management and macroeconomic provisions of 337 crore rupees, according to Moneycontrol data.

In general insurance, Bajaj General’s profit fell to 420 crore rupees in the September 2026 quarter from 517 crore rupees in the year-earlier quarter. The decline came despite a 10% rise in gross written premiums to 7,056 crore rupees, according to Moneycontrol. At Bajaj Life, the value of new business rose 40% to 512 crore rupees from 367 crore rupees a year earlier. The life insurer began operations in GIFT City in October 2026. The differing results at the two insurers show that the group’s profit growth was uneven across its businesses, with general insurance profit down while the value of new business in life insurance increased.

In the market, Bajaj Finserv shares were up 1.23% at 1,713 rupees in trading on Tuesday afternoon, November 3, according to Moneycontrol. The Economic Times reported that the stock rose about 2% after the results announcement and was trading near 1,719 rupees on the NSE. The difference between the two prices reflects the timing of the observations, which capture separate points in trading on the day of the announcement. For comparison, consolidated profit after tax rose 18.2% to 6,296.67 crore rupees in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, from 5,329.17 crore rupees in the year-earlier period, according to Business Standard. The company said in that quarter that accounting for investments by its insurance subsidiaries could cause temporary volatility in consolidated profit because of unrealized market-value movements.

Looking ahead, Bajaj Finserv said it intends to subscribe to a preferential issue of Bajaj Finance shares for an amount not exceeding 5,800 crore rupees, subject to regulatory and legal approvals. In the previous quarter, the board had also approved a proposal to enter the reinsurance business through a proposed subsidiary, with implementation subject to approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India and other authorities. The proposals leave two paths subject to approvals: injecting capital into the lending company and considering a new insurance business. The available information did not specify when the subscription would be completed or the reinsurance business would begin. Both steps therefore remain contingent on securing the required approvals.
