4The Chinese win marks the first local use of AUMOVIO’s third-generation camera solution.

AUMOVIO said on November 3 that it won series-production orders for automotive cameras worth more than €500 million from Asian companies in the third quarter of 2026. The cameras support assisted and automated driving functions, according to the company’s statement issued from Frankfurt. The order value puts the win among the larger contracts the company has announced in this business, while execution is scheduled to begin as planned more than a year from now. The orders involve two companies whose names AUMOVIO did not disclose. Ismail Dagli, executive board member and head of the Autonomous Mobility and Commercial Vehicles business area, said the contracts “highlight the importance of solutions that combine global technical expertise with local execution.”

One order came from a leading Chinese automaker, and the other from one of Asia’s largest carmakers, according to the statement. The company did not identify either customer or break down the total order value between them. The Chinese win marks the first local use of AUMOVIO’s third-generation camera solutions, the company said. This points to the generation’s entry into a production program at a Chinese manufacturer, while details of the customer and program remain undisclosed. The other Asian contract is for a company AUMOVIO describes as one of the region’s largest carmakers.

The orders use a modular camera platform designed by the company for harsh conditions and more complex scenarios, including automated driving. For the Chinese order, the platform supports assisted and automated driving functions in difficult operating conditions, according to the statement. AUMOVIO also uses software-based image enhancement to improve image quality in low light. The company said this enhancement enables driver-assistance functions to operate at night, one of the applications the solution targets. The company thus combines camera components and software-based image processing in a single system serving vehicle functions, without the statement detailing other technical features or their scope.

The announcement comes as AUMOVIO’s first-half 2026 results showed a downturn in its business. Adjusted sales were €8.6 billion in the first half, compared with €9.5 billion in the same period of 2025, down 8.9% year on year. Adjusted operating profit was €157 million, compared with €260 million a year earlier, while its margin fell to 1.8% from 2.7%. The new orders provide an indication of future production business in the camera segment, but do not in themselves change the sales or profit figures reported for the first half, as production at the two customers has not yet begun.

In August, the company cut its 2026 forecast, saying it now expected adjusted sales of between €17.0 billion and €17.5 billion, down from a previous range of €17.0 billion to €18.5 billion. It also lowered its adjusted operating profit margin forecast to 3.0–4.0% from 3.5–5.0%. The company attributed the outlook to continued market weakness and said global car production was likely to decline slightly in 2026, with output expected to fall particularly in Europe, North America and China. Then-Chief Financial Officer Jutta Donnges said the market weakness that weighed on first-half results was expected to continue, and that the company would continue to build on the progress it had made in the second half. This backdrop puts the camera orders in the context of the company’s efforts to win new business while expecting continued pressure on the market and its results.

Production at the two manufacturers is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, AUMOVIO said. That means the orders announced in the third quarter precede the planned start of manufacturing by about a year, with the statement providing no detail on execution value or its distribution across periods. The company will publish its third-quarter results on November 5, 2026 at 07:00 Central European Time, followed by a call with analysts and investors that day from 09:30 to 10:30. Those disclosures are expected to present the period’s results two days after the order announcement. The stated production start for the two customers in the fourth quarter of 2027 remains the specified operational horizon for the new contracts.
