Key Facts

2Engineered Components sales rose 7% to $1.835 billion, from $1.710 billion a year earlier.
3Intelligent Systems sales fell 3% to $1.402 billion, from $1.442 billion in the third quarter of 2025.
4The adjusted earnings-before-interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization margin fell to 17.7% from 19.1% a year earlier.
5The company forecast adjusted earnings per share of between $1.35 and $1.55 in the fourth quarter, against an average estimate of $1.62.

Aptiv reported third-quarter results on November 3, 2026, posting adjusted earnings of $1.42 a share, $0.09 above analysts’ estimate of $1.33, according to Investing.com. The results showed a contrast between beating quarterly expectations and lower earnings compared with the same period last year. Adjusted net income was $292 million, versus $321 million in the third quarter of 2025. Adjusted earnings per share also fell to $1.42 from $1.48 a year earlier. The comparison shows that beating estimates did not prevent a year-over-year decline in earnings.

Performance across the two main segments was mixed. Sales at Engineered Components rose to $1.835 billion in the third quarter from $1.710 billion in the year-earlier period, a 7% annual increase, according to an Aptiv statement published on MarketScreener. By contrast, sales at Intelligent Systems fell to $1.402 billion from $1.442 billion, a decline of 3%. The divergence puts growth in engineered components among the results’ leading operational strengths, while the intelligent systems segment contracted. Growth in the first segment alone does not establish that it offset the decline in the second or broader challenges in the automotive market. The company’s figures show two different trajectories within its business in the same quarter.

The divergence also extended across regions, with adjusted revenue rising 5% in North America and 5% in Asia Pacific in the third quarter. Asia Pacific’s growth included a 1% increase in China, while adjusted revenue rose 3% in South America, which the company described as its smallest region. By contrast, adjusted revenue fell 5% in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The company said growth in North America, Asia Pacific and South America partially offset the decline in the latter region. The distribution reflects differing revenue trends across markets, with the regional decline remaining a drag on the overall result.

At the operating-profit level, Aptiv reported adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $567 million, compared with $598 million a year earlier. The related margin fell to 17.7% from 19.1% in the third quarter of 2025. Chief Executive Kevin Clark said in the call transcript that revenue grew 2%, in line with the second quarter, and that the EBITDA margin was 18%, within management’s expectations. Net cash from continuing operating activities was $320 million, while free cash flow reached $194 million during the quarter. These indicators combine continued cash generation with lower adjusted earnings and margins than a year earlier.

On commercial demand, Clark said the company secured about $4 billion in new business awards in the third quarter, bringing the total since the start of the year to more than $13 billion. He added that business bookings in China grew 30%, and that more than 20% of those awards were tied to export programs. Management also said revenue from non-automotive markets increased 11% in the quarter, and that the company was on track to exceed $3 billion in such revenue in 2026. The figures offer indications of new-business activity and revenue growth beyond the automotive market, alongside the split between the two segments. Management also said it plans to update its business portfolio review in the first quarter of 2027.

Aptiv set fourth-quarter sales at between $3.110 billion and $3.210 billion, with adjusted earnings per share of between $1.35 and $1.55. The expected earnings-per-share range is below analysts’ average estimate of $1.62, according to Investing.com. For 2026, the company forecast sales of between $12.650 billion and $12.750 billion and adjusted earnings per share of between $5.60 and $5.80. The fourth-quarter guidance offers investors a near-term measure of what to expect after the third-quarter results, with earnings projected below the market average. Aptiv shares closed at $44.23 on November 2, then rose 0.5% to $44.45 in premarket trading on November 3, according to Investing.com.

The company had scheduled a call to review the results for 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time on November 3, the day the results statement was released. The call is part of management’s review of quarterly performance and its guidance for the period ahead. The published guidance includes sales and earnings ranges for the fourth quarter and for 2026, while management said an update to its business portfolio review is expected in the first quarter of 2027. These dates link the company’s near-term steps, from completing its presentation of quarterly results to tracking its annual outlook. The announced figures also provide a framework for comparing future results with the ranges set by management.
