Akums Drugs reported results for the second quarter of fiscal 2026-2027, ended in September 2026, posting consolidated revenue of 1,342 crore rupees, up 31.9% year over year, according to Moneycontrol. Operating profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose to 195 crore rupees, from 94 crore in the year-earlier period. Its margin widened to 14.5% from 9.3%, reflecting profit growth outpacing revenue. Contract manufacturing of pharmaceuticals drove a major part of the expansion, with revenue growing faster than the company overall. Akums shares rose 5% in early trading after the results announcement, according to the report published on 2 November 2026.

Contract manufacturing revenue reached 1,115 crore rupees, up 38.6% year over year, while operating profit was about 168 crore rupees, according to Moneycontrol. Management attributed the performance to strong growth in sales volumes, improved capacity utilization and continued demand from pharmaceutical-company customers. It described the expansion as double-digit volume growth and linked improved utilization to increased activity at its facilities. The segment’s performance put its revenue growth above the group’s 31.9% rate in the same quarter. Its operating profit was also about 168 crore rupees, underscoring its contribution to consolidated operating profit of 195 crore.

On a quarterly basis, second-quarter revenue rose 15.1% from the first quarter of fiscal 2026-2027, when revenue was 1,167 crore rupees. Operating profit increased 11.5%, and net profit rose 13.5% from the previous quarter, according to the report. This comparison shows the change during the current fiscal year alongside the year-over-year comparison, which showed revenue up 31.9%. In the second quarter of the previous fiscal year, consolidated revenue was 1,018 crore rupees, after 1,024 crore in the first quarter and 1,033 crore in the second quarter of fiscal 2025-2026. This shows that current-quarter revenue exceeded the levels in the corresponding periods reported in the company’s earlier results.

Contract manufacturing revenue was 804 crore rupees in the second quarter of fiscal 2025-2026, with volumes up 7% year over year, according to a company statement issued in November 2025. In the same statement, management said volumes in India’s pharmaceutical sector were stable and prices of active pharmaceutical ingredients continued to fall, while Akums’ volume growth outpaced the industry. The domestic branded formulations business then recorded revenue of 122 crore rupees, with an operating profit margin of 21.6%. Also in November 2025, the company announced its first commercial shipment of formulations to Europe: dapagliflozin tablets to Switzerland. It said then that it would supply rivaroxaban tablets in Europe during the third quarter of fiscal 2025-2026.

Expanding beyond pharmaceuticals, Akums subsidiary Pure & Cure acquired Oriflame India’s manufacturing business for 56 crore rupees, according to the report. The deal includes two manufacturing facilities in Roorkee and Noida and marks Akums’ entry into color cosmetics manufacturing. On international expansion, management said supplies under its European contract manufacturing project were on track. It added that the Zambia initiative is expected to begin commercial supplies from India in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026-2027. Management expects the initiative to start contributing to revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2027-2028, putting the start of commercial supplies ahead of the expected revenue impact.

Akums said in November 2025 that it had entered a joint venture with the Zambian government to establish a pharmaceutical plant. It said at the time that it expected to supply medicines from its Indian facilities to Zambia worth a total of 50 million dollars during the two years following the announcement. The expected start of commercial supplies in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026-2027 is part of this expansion, according to a management update reported by Moneycontrol. The expected revenue contribution is set to begin, according to management, in the first quarter of fiscal 2027-2028. The current quarter’s results remain anchored by contract manufacturing, which led revenue and operating profit growth during the period.
