Westpac to report annual results on Nov. 2 after financial year ended in September
Key Facts
Westpac had not announced its results for fiscal 2026 when the draft was published, with the bank setting the announcement for 2 November 2026 at 10 a.m. Sydney time. This puts the annual figures in the draft outside the results that were available as announced at that time. The bank said the announcement would cover fiscal 2026, which ended on 30 September 2026. The date follows a financial period in which interim data showed growth in deposits and loans, alongside a decline in profit compared with the previous half. The final announcement is also scheduled to include details of the dividend, according to the bank’s financial calendar.
The latest results published before the annual announcement show statutory net profit of A$3,414 million for the six months ended 31 March 2026, down 5% compared with the second half of 2025. Net profit excluding notable items was A$3,483 million, down 1% from the previous half. These figures provide an interim basis for assessing the bank’s performance before the full annual accounts are released. Westpac also reported that deposits and loans rose 7% year on year in the first half. Its common equity Tier 1 capital ratio was 12.4% over the same period.
For its first-half distribution, the bank announced an ordinary interim dividend of 77 Australian cents per share. This amount relates to the first half of the financial year, while the final results announcement and dividend were listed on the bank’s calendar for 2 November. The calendar also showed that the financial year ended on 30 September, distinguishing the accounts’ closing date from their announcement date. The bank reported net profit of A$6,916 million in fiscal 2025, down 1% from 2024. The annual report attributed the decline to higher operating expenses, partly offset by higher income and lower credit impairment charges.
Westpac is scheduled to hold its annual general meeting on 16 December 2026, according to its financial calendar. The 2 November announcement will be the next milestone for investors seeking the full results for the year ended in September and details of the final distribution. The bank has set the final distribution payment date for 21 December 2026. Chief Executive Anthony Miller also noted that inflation remains above the Reserve Bank of Australia’s target range. He said interest rates are likely to remain high until 2027, adding that investment by Australian companies supports the medium-term outlook.
