UPL’s consolidated net profit fell 26.14% to 452 crore rupees in the second quarter of fiscal 2026-2027, compared with 612 crore rupees in the same period a year earlier, according to a Press Trust of India report published by HDFC Sky. Total income declined 1.32% to 11,860 crore rupees in the September 2026 quarter, from 12,019 crore rupees a year earlier. The report said quarterly expenses were 11,298 crore rupees, compared with 11,573 crore rupees in the corresponding period. Income declined alongside expenses, while net profit fell by more than a quarter from its year-earlier level. Results varied across the company’s businesses, with crop protection contracting and seeds and specialty chemicals growing.

Reuters said crop protection, UPL’s largest business, recorded an 8% decline in revenue during the quarter. The agency attributed the pressure to unfavourable rains and the El Niño phenomenon in Brazil and other Latin American markets, as well as severe drought conditions in Europe. It added that higher input costs weighed on the business’s performance. By contrast, UPL said new product launches drove sales volume growth in North America. This separates a decline in revenue at its largest business from higher volumes in a North American market, without changing the direction of the company’s overall income, which fell.

On the other hand, revenue at Advanta, the seeds and post-harvest unit, rose 12%, according to Reuters, while revenue at specialty chemicals business Superform increased 28%. The agency attributed Advanta’s growth to price increases and favourable currency movements. A Press Trust of India report also cited growth of 12% in the seeds and post-harvest business and 50% in specialty chemicals. The latter two figures reflect growth in the businesses as reported by the company through the report, while Reuters’ figures measure revenue at the Advanta and Superform units specifically. Group Chairman and CEO Jai Shroff said the second-quarter results "reflect the strength of the diversified model the company has built."

In a move to expand in the seed market, UPL subsidiary Advanta agreed to acquire 99.9% of Egyptian company Misr Hytech Seed International for $110 million, according to a Press Trust of India report. The deal was announced on 2 November 2026. It is expected to be completed no later than 31 January 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. The deal marks an expansion by the subsidiary in the seeds business, while its completion remains subject to those approvals. On its outlook, UPL maintained its fiscal 2027 forecasts for revenue growth of 7% to 11% and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation growth of 10% to 14%, according to Reuters.
