That compared with an adjusted loss of $19.590 million, or $0.11 a share, in the third quarter a year earlier. GAAP loss per share was $0.08 in the latest quarter. Chief Executive Eric Lefkofsky called it "another record quarter," citing revenue of $411.5 million. The company's shares closed at $72.22 on October 30, according to EL7 data.
Revenue from the diagnostics segment rose 20% to $303.5 million, while data and applications revenue increased 33% to $108.1 million, the company said in a filing. The differing growth rates reflect expansion in the two businesses that make up quarterly revenue, with data and applications growing faster. In oncology, test volume growth accelerated to 32% year over year. The company also conducted about 12,000 minimal residual disease tests, up 300% from the third quarter of 2025. Lefkofsky linked the record quarterly revenue to accelerating growth in oncology units and momentum in data and applications.
Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization improved to $25.572 million in the third quarter of 2026, from $1.476 million in the corresponding period of 2025. Net loss narrowed to $14.851 million from $79.982 million a year earlier. The latest-quarter loss included $50.8 million in stock-based compensation expenses and related payroll taxes. It also included $42.8 million in unrealized gains on marketable securities. The figures show the difference between the adjusted and net profitability measures in the company's quarterly results.
Tempus raised its 2026 revenue outlook to a range of $1.60 billion to $1.605 billion, saying that would represent annual growth of about 25%. The company held its adjusted EBITDA outlook at about $65 million for the year. The annual guidance follows quarterly revenue growth of 23%, with diagnostics revenue up 20% and data and applications revenue up 33%. The filing did not compare the adjusted earnings outlook with a prior estimate. In its results statement, the company described oncology business growth as accelerating and linked revenue growth to momentum in data and applications.
The company is seeking to expand its data licensing business through agreements with drugmakers. It said a strategic collaboration announced in October with Bristol Myers Squibb lifted data licensing bookings since the start of the year to more than $550 million. The agreement covers a five-year license for data and oncology models, valued at up to $137.5 million. Tempus also announced a multiyear collaboration with Merck and Moderna to support the potential commercialization of an investigational personalized neoantigen-based therapy. The therapy is being evaluated with Keytruda to treat melanoma and other cancers, according to the filing.
