The company links some future risks to cross-border shopping and price pressure. Singapore’s Ministry of Transport aims to begin passenger services by December 2026, with a journey of about 5 minutes between Woodlands North and Bukit Chagar stations. The Straits Times reported that the company sees competition, promotions and the upcoming link as potentially increasing cross-border shopping and price pressure, alongside continued wage pressures linked to the progressive wage model. Sheng Siong said its new distribution centre in Sungei Kadut was designed to support a network of more than 120 stores and is expected to be completed by 2029.
