Mercado Bitcoin Opens Sui Assets to 4.5 Million Customers, Adds USDsui as Lending Collateral

Key Facts

1Mercado Bitcoin has made SUI, USDC and USDsui available to its customers since its announcement on October 29, 2026.
2Mercado Bitcoin has around 4.5 million customers, according to Sui.
3Mercado Bitcoin has issued more than 800 tokenized assets since beginning operations in 2019.
4Sui said Mercado Bitcoin holds 10 regulatory licenses in Brazil and Europe.
5The volume of stablecoin transfers on Sui exceeded $1 trillion in the twelve months before the announcement.

The Sui Foundation announced on October 29, 2026, that Mercado Bitcoin lets its customers buy, sell, send and receive SUI, USDC and USDsui over the Sui network. The foundation said this marks the first time the platform’s customers can transact in these assets on the network, and makes Mercado Bitcoin the first exchange in Brazil to support transfers of Sui assets. Sui said the platform has around 4.5 million customers, expanding the potential user base for the assets added to its services. The announcement goes beyond listing the assets for trading: it connects USDsui to the platform’s existing lending product and moves tokenized real-world asset activity onto the network. “Brazil is a financial pillar in South America and the world, and central to the next phase of sustainable growth for the Sui network,” said Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Mysten Labs.

On lending, Sui said USDsui is now eligible to be used as collateral in Mercado Bitcoin’s lending product. Hashi’s role in this activity has not yet become an available service; the foundation said the platform is exploring its integration into existing lending products. This distinction sets clear limits on what was announced: USDsui’s eligibility as collateral is in effect, according to the statement, while the platform does not yet have a Hashi-based lending product. Hashi aims to enable the use of bitcoin as collateral, but the announcement tied the next phase to the testnet and mainnet launch expected this month. Sui said Hashi’s global testnet is live and that its mainnet launch is expected this month.

On real-world assets, Sui said Mercado Bitcoin will move its tokenized-assets platform to the Sui network. The platform began tokenization operations in 2019 and has since issued more than 800 tokenized assets, according to the statement published on October 29, 2026. The assets include receivables, structured credit, stakes in real-estate consortia and real estate, illustrating the breadth of categories the platform handles. Sui said retail and institutional investors can access the same regulated asset classes side by side through the platform. The public offering of these assets is subject to Resolution 88 issued by Brazil’s Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the announcement, while Resolution 135 governs their secondary-market trading.

Mercado Bitcoin, according to Sui, draws on a regulatory presence spanning 10 licenses in Brazil and Europe. These include a license from Brazil’s central bank to operate as a payment institution and a license from Brazil’s Securities and Exchange Commission to operate as a securities broker. The foundation said the platform is directly connected to Brazil’s Pix instant-payment system, enabling customers to transfer in real time between the Brazilian real and dollar-denominated stablecoins. This connection brings together the local payments channel and the digital-asset services announced by the platform within the regulatory framework outlined by Sui. The foundation also cited network activity, saying it had settled more than $1 trillion in stablecoin transfers in the twelve months before its announcement on October 29, 2026, based on network data.

The Sui Foundation announced on October 8, 2026, that Hashi’s mainnet launch would begin in phases during the month, and said the project had secured more than $500 million in capital commitments. In its subsequent Mercado Bitcoin announcement, Sui described the global testnet as live, while keeping integration of Hashi into lending products at the exploration stage. The services announced so far therefore center on making SUI, USDC and USDsui available, accepting USDsui as collateral and moving the tokenized-assets platform to the network. The next step related to Hashi is its mainnet launch expected this month, according to the foundation’s two announcements.
