Krystal Biotech Authorizes Share Repurchase Program of Up to $400 Million
Key Facts
Krystal Biotech’s board authorized a program to repurchase up to $400 million of its common stock, according to the official results statement issued on November 2, 2026. The company said it expects to make purchases opportunistically over the next two years. The authorization does not specify a required purchase volume or an expiration date, and allows the company to modify, suspend or discontinue the program at any time at its discretion. The decision gives the company the option to return part of its capital to shareholders while funding its programs and commercial expansion. Chief Executive Krish S. Krishnan said the company’s financial strength allows it to invest in its programs and expand globally “while returning capital to shareholders.”
VYJUVEK, the product underpinning the company’s commercial activity, posted global net revenue of $127.3 million in the third quarter of 2026, up 30% from the same period a year earlier. Gross margin for the quarter was 94%, the company said. The product’s quarterly revenue matched net product revenue reported for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared with $97.8 million for the three months ended September 30, 2025. For the first nine months of the year, product revenue was $362.9 million, versus $282.0 million in the same period of 2025. The company attributed the increase primarily to the launch of VYJUVEK in Europe and Japan, while Krishnan said the drug’s revenue growth supports profitability and funding for pipeline development.
Revenue growth was not matched by an increase in net income during the quarter: net income was $63.1 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared with $79.4 million in the third quarter of 2025. Diluted earnings per share fell to $2.05 from $2.66 in the comparable period. Meanwhile, cash, cash equivalents and investments totaled $1.2 billion on September 30, 2026. The company cited these financial resources in the context of its ability to fund programs, commercial expansion and capital returns, without explicitly linking the liquidity balance to executing the full repurchase authorization. The figures reflect two simultaneous trends in the quarter’s results: higher product revenue and lower net income and earnings per share year over year.
For spending, the company set 2026 guidance for combined research and development, selling and general and administrative expenses, on a non-GAAP basis, at $155 million to $165 million. The guidance excludes stock-based compensation, according to the official disclosure. The range provides an estimate of combined expenses for the current fiscal period as the company expands VYJUVEK marketing and continues to develop its pipeline. The company said it had received more than 760 approvals for coverage of treatment with the drug in the United States as of November 2, 2026. The product’s cumulative global revenue since launch was $1.1 billion as of the same date.
The drug’s commercial rollout also extends to Europe. The company said pricing negotiations had been completed in Germany and Italy, and that it expects to launch VYJUVEK in Italy in early 2027. This sets a specific timeline for the next announced commercial step in the Italian market after pricing negotiations there were completed. The company also reported KB113 data showing a reduction in more than 80% of evaluated cancerous lesions in patients with Gorlin syndrome. In trading before the announcement, KRYS shares closed at $332.29 on October 30, 2026, the latest close listed in EL7 data before the November 2 statement. That figure does not reflect any share-price movement after the announcement.
