Clean Science posted consolidated revenue of 299 crore rupees in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, up 22% year on year, according to the results presentation published by Investing.com. The figures showed strong sales growth, but higher raw material costs pressured the company's margins. Consolidated raw material expenses rose 33% year on year during the quarter. Their share of revenue increased to 43.3%, compared with 39.7% in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. This gap between revenue growth and input costs highlights the challenge the company faced in converting higher sales into a comparable improvement in profitability.

Management attributed higher production costs to a year-on-year increase of between 50% and 100% in phenol, acetone and methanol prices in the second quarter of fiscal 2026-27. It said on the earnings call that coal and freight costs also rose. It added that low Chinese prices made it harder to pass the increases on to customers, limiting the company's ability to offset higher input costs quickly. Management said, "Prices of key raw materials, such as phenol, acetone and methanol, were higher by between 50% and 100% year on year." By contrast, the HALS segment emerged as a growth driver in the first half of fiscal 2027, doubling on the back of higher volumes.

In the first half of fiscal 2027, consolidated revenue rose 16% to 568 crore rupees, while profit after tax increased 3% to 129 crore rupees. The company recorded EBITDA of 188 crore rupees in the same period, up 1%, with a margin of 33.7%. The profit-after-tax margin was 23.1%. These figures reflect continued revenue and profit growth, while profit growth remained slower than sales growth in the first half. Exports also rose to 73% of the company's standalone business in the second quarter, compared with 64% in the previous quarter.

The company's upcoming plans focus on adding new products to its portfolio. It said the commercial launch of its advanced HALS product is expected in the second half of fiscal 2026-27, after completing trials with Geneus Chem AG and meeting quality standards and regulatory requirements. It also expects to market Performance Chemical 2 during the second half of fiscal 2027. This places both launches in the coming part of the fiscal year, as the company tracks the impact of HALS segment growth and export expansion on its business mix. The disclosures did not specify a more precise timetable than these expected periods.
