Erste Bank Polska's net profit fell 21.1% in the third quarter of 2026 from the same period a year earlier, but rose 27.1% from the second quarter, according to data reported by Bankier.pl citing PAP Biznes. Earnings were in line with market consensus, the source said, contrary to characterizations of the results as a material miss against expectations. Estimates from 7 brokerages put net profit between 1,443 and 1,543 million zlotys. That places the bank's performance within the published estimate range, while the quarterly comparison points to an improvement after the annual decline. The results were announced as the stock fell on the day on October 30, but the available data do not establish that earnings alone caused the move.

Interest income was one of the quarter's main strengths, reaching 3,303.2 million zlotys and exceeding analyst consensus of 3,262.5 million. The figure was up 3.4% year on year and 6.5% from the second quarter of 2026. These figures indicate that growth in core business income continued on both an annual and quarterly basis, despite the year-on-year decline in net profit. Elsewhere in revenue, commission income came in below expectations, according to the angle of the source's coverage. Performance was therefore mixed: interest income was stronger than consensus, while commissions were relatively weak.

Mortgage loan sales reached a record 4.9 billion zlotys in the third quarter, up 60% from the third quarter of 2025, the bank said. Cash loan sales also reached 4 billion zlotys, up 20% year on year. The total cash loan portfolio stood at 20.8 billion zlotys at the end of September, up 10% from a year earlier. These figures show lending activity expanding across mortgage and cash loan products during the period. For the first nine months of 2026, the total credit impairment result was 367 million zlotys, the bank said.

The results come as Erste Group prepares to increase its ownership of the Polish bank through a tender offer priced at about 713 zlotys per share. The group said the subscription period is expected to remain open for 30 days, with the transaction expected to settle in December 2026. At group level, Erste said the costs of integrating the Polish bank could total as much as 180 million euros in 2026. Risk costs were also affected by a one-off provision of 302 million euros for expected credit losses, which the group said was related to the initial inclusion of the Polish portfolio and did not indicate deterioration. The group raised its 2026 outlook, targeting a return on tangible equity of more than 20% and earnings-per-share growth of more than 20%.
