AIXTRON reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of €183.6 million, up 54% from the year-earlier period, as new orders jumped to €274.9 million, according to a company release published on October 29. Net income for the period rose to €35.4 million from €13.0 million a year earlier, while earnings per share were €0.31, compared with €0.11. Revenue was within the company’s guidance range of €180 million, ±€20 million. But the release does not establish that earnings per share exceeded analysts’ expectations: data published on Investing.com showed actual and expected results of €0.31 per share. The results highlight accelerating demand for the company’s equipment alongside year-over-year improvements in revenue and profitability.

Equipment orders totaled €274.9 million, up 122% from €124.0 million in the third quarter of 2025. Orders for the first nine months of 2026 came to about €660.9 million, up 76% from €374.7 million in the year-earlier period. Optoelectronics accounted for about 68% of quarterly equipment orders, compared with 24% for power electronics. The order backlog also rose to €549.4 million on September 30, from €286.5 million a year earlier and €257.8 million at the end of 2025. The company said the backlog provides revenue visibility beyond 2027. The accumulated orders represent a larger base of pending business, while their conversion into revenue depends on production and shipments in coming periods.

AIXTRON attributed strong demand to equipment needs for lasers used in AI data-center communications, saying the expansion of those networks is a structural driver of high-speed optical interconnects. Optoelectronics therefore remains a key part of the order mix, accounting for about 68% of third-quarter equipment orders. The company said 800G optical transceivers remain the established volume platform in the market. The transition to the next generation, 1.6T, is expected to advance gradually as customer and supply-chain qualification matures. This puts growth in demand for optical communications equipment in the context of a phased technology transition, rather than an immediate shift to the newer platform.

Operating profit, or EBIT, rose to €56.7 million in the third quarter from €15.4 million a year earlier, and the EBIT margin climbed to 31% from 13%. The company attributed the improvement to higher gross profit driven by a favorable product and regional mix, alongside operating leverage from increased revenue. AIXTRON offered an explanation combining sales composition and activity levels, rather than attributing improved profitability to a single factor. The jump coincided with year-over-year growth in revenue and orders, while net income for the period was €35.4 million, compared with €13.0 million. JPMorgan said after the preliminary results announcement in October that the news could prompt upgrades to the company’s near- and medium-term estimates.

The company left its guidance for fiscal 2026 unchanged, forecasting revenue of €560 million, ±€30 million, a gross margin of about 42% and an EBIT margin of between 17% and 20%. The chief executive, meanwhile, said demand trends reinforced the company’s expectation of a strong year of growth in 2027, led by optoelectronics. The release gave no quantified figure for 2027 revenue or earnings per share. Simply Wall St’s page shows 2027 estimates of €859 million in revenue and €169 million in earnings, based on an average of 14 analysts. These are external estimates, not quantified guidance from AIXTRON, and they do not support the figures in the previous draft for earnings per share or a specific rate of annual growth.

AIXTRON said production increased gradually during 2026 and that it expects a further increase by year-end as it expands manufacturing to meet anticipated shipments in coming quarters. This puts production execution at the center of monitoring the company’s ability to fulfill its backlog, alongside its revenue and margin guidance for the current year. Market data showed the stock rose 8.29% in trading on October 29. The company set March 4, 2027, as the date for publishing its 2026 annual financial report, followed by April 29, 2027, for its first-quarter 2027 report. These dates provide the next two checkpoints for tracking production and shipments and the evolution of demand after the third-quarter results.
