Jio Platforms reported a 13.7% year-on-year rise in consolidated profit after tax to 8,387 crore rupees for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with 7,375 crore rupees in the same period a year earlier. The unaudited consolidated results for the quarter and first half were released after the company’s listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange on October 28. Operating revenue increased 11.4% to 40,475 crore rupees from 36,332 crore rupees a year earlier. On the operating front, Reliance Jio’s 5G subscriber base exceeded 300 million at the end of September, with net additions of 15 million during the quarter. The company ended the period with a total subscriber base of 542.4 million, after adding 9.1 million subscribers overall during the quarter, according to data reported by Business Standard.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation rose 16.6% year on year to 21,879 crore rupees, while the margin widened 250 basis points to 54.1%, the Free Press Journal reported. Growth in the measure outpaced the 11.4% increase in operating revenue, and the company also posted higher net profit than in the year-earlier quarter. The wider margin coincided with increased use of data services, reflected in growth in data traffic and per-user consumption during the period. The company did not link these figures to a specific financial driver in the published quote, but the operating results place expanding usage alongside improved profitability. The figures thus show year-on-year growth in earnings and revenue alongside a higher operating margin.

Total data traffic reached 71.3 billion gigabytes in the quarter, up 22.1% year on year, while average monthly consumption per customer rose 14.2% to 44.2 gigabytes, according to results cited by NDTV Profit. Business Standard had reported data consumption of 38.7 gigabytes per month in the same period a year earlier. The comparison reflects higher usage per customer alongside growth in the 5G subscriber base, which exceeded 300 million at the end of September. Jio added 15 million 5G subscribers during the quarter, while net additions to the total subscriber base were 9.1 million. The difference between the two figures indicates that 5G additions accounted for part of the movement in the subscriber base during the period, rather than the total number of new subscribers.

Expansion also extended to fixed home internet, where subscribers reached 30 million at the end of September 2026, up from 22.7 million a year earlier, according to Reuters in a report published by The Economic Times. The company added 7.3 million homes to its broadband base in the 12 months ended September. JioFiber had more than 15.1 million subscribers and accounted for more than 75% of fixed internet additions in the preceding 12 months, according to Business Standard. These figures place home broadband alongside mobile as another area of growth in the company’s services base. The increase in data use from 38.7 to 44.2 gigabytes per user per month accompanies this expansion in connectivity, without the results specifying how much each service contributed to revenue.

Growth in operating earnings coincided with a decline in net debt to 8,822 crore rupees in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, compared with 41,161 crore rupees in the year-earlier period, a 78.6% year-on-year decrease. Net debt also fell 7.5% from 9,539 crore rupees in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, according to Business Standard. Jio Platforms was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange on October 28 and raised 30,188 crore rupees in its initial public offering. The company said 27,500 crore rupees of the net proceeds were used to fully or partially repay the principal of external loans owed by Reliance Jio Infocomm. It said the balance was earmarked for general corporate purposes, while the debt comparison reflects declines both year on year and quarter on quarter.

Commenting on the results, Akash Ambani said the quarter’s performance “continues to reflect the strength of our 5G network and the expanding reach of our broadband and digital services.” He added that the company would continue investing in next-generation technologies, including satellite communications, intellectual property for 6G technology and artificial intelligence integrated into voice and data services. The direction follows the company’s listing and its fundraising, part of which was used to repay external loans, alongside expansion in its mobile and home internet subscriber bases. Ambani’s comments place these areas within the company’s future investment plans, without specifying amounts or timelines. The published results cover the quarter and first half ended September 30, 2026.
