Entergy’s board on Oct. 30 announced a $0.04 increase in the quarterly cash dividend on common stock, to $0.68 per share, according to a company statement. The announcement sets out the new dividend and the increase in dollars, without attributing the decision to earnings performance or conditions in the utilities sector. The amount is payable on Dec. 1, 2026, to shareholders of record on Nov. 13, according to the statement. The record date is when shareholder eligibility for the dividend is determined, with payment following in December. The announcement comes ahead of the company’s scheduled third-quarter results on Nov. 2.

The move raises the quarterly amount to $0.68, an announced increase of $0.04 per share. Entergy said its board declares dividends every three months and sets the record and payment dates, with the decision subject to the board’s discretion. The October announcement is therefore part of a quarterly decision-making process, but the company did not explain the reasons for the increase. The statement also did not describe the move as a routine return-of-capital measure.

Entergy said it has paid cash dividends to shareholders every quarter since 1988, a record spanning multiple cycles of board decisions. That provides historical context for the continuation of dividends, while the company raises the quarterly payment to $0.68. The company generates, transmits and distributes electricity through its operating companies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. It said it serves more than 3 million customers across the four states. The regional footprint places the dividend within the activities of a utility serving a broad customer base, according to the company’s corporate description.

Entergy’s dividend decision follows adjusted and reported earnings of $3.91 per share in 2025, compared with adjusted earnings of $3.65 in 2024 and reported earnings of $2.45 per share that year. In the second quarter of 2026, adjusted and reported earnings were $1.03 per share, compared with $1.05 in the same period of 2025. The company attributed growth in utility earnings in the second quarter to the net effect of regulatory actions at several of its companies, returns on construction work in progress for some utility investments, higher retail sales volumes and an increase in other income items. It said these factors were partly offset by higher interest, operating and depreciation costs. It also said an increase in the average number of diluted common shares, primarily related to settlements of equity forward contracts in 2025 and 2026, affected per-share results.

Entergy had set 2026 adjusted earnings guidance of $4.25 to $4.45 per share and reaffirmed it in July. Chief Executive Drew Marsh said at the time that the company “remains firmly on track to achieve our goals for 2026 and beyond.” The company reports third-quarter results before the market opens on Monday, Nov. 2, followed by a webcast at 10 a.m. Central time, according to its statement. The release will give shareholders the latest results for the period within the financial context provided by the company, following its dividend increase announcement. Entergy shares, listed under the ticker ETR, closed at $110.11 on Oct. 30, according to EL7 data.
