Trent’s consolidated net profit rose about 23% to 4.64 billion rupees in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, from 3.77 billion rupees a year earlier, according to Reuters. The results reflect faster profit growth than revenue growth during the quarter. This came as demand for low-cost fashion continued and the store network expanded. Trent is owned by the Tata Group and includes the Westside and Zudio brands.

On a standalone basis, revenue rose 23% to 57.88 billion rupees in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, compared with 19% growth in the first quarter, according to Reuters coverage. This shows sales growth accelerated between the two quarters, as India’s apparel industry faces weak discretionary spending and rising inflation. Reuters said market attention had shifted to sales performance at existing stores after a period of rapid growth. This comparison remains separate from Trent’s consolidated results, which cover the group more broadly. The company said cost pressures include high inflation, geopolitical conditions and supply chain disruptions.

Trent continued to expand during the quarter, adding 17 Zudio stores and 10 Westside stores. It had added 40 Zudio stores and 13 Westside stores in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. The company’s total network stood at 1,342 stores on September 30, 2026, compared with 1,101 a year earlier. This reflects continued network expansion, with the pace of additions differing between the two quarters.

Management said store openings would remain at a broadly similar annual pace, with numbers varying between quarters. This comes after Zudio and Westside additions were lower in the current quarter than a year earlier, despite an increase in the total network year on year. In the context of the results, Reuters said sustained demand for affordable fashion supported performance, while weak discretionary spending and rising inflation weighed on India’s apparel sector. The company also described competition as intense in recent years, with no material recent change. It cited inflation, geopolitical conditions and supply disruptions as cost pressures.

Trent is also preparing for a change in its board leadership. Noel N. Tata will retire as chairman and director at the close of business on November 11, 2026, according to Moneycontrol’s report of the company’s announcement. Bahram Vakil will become chairman effective November 12, while Tata will become chairman emeritus. Announcing the transition, Tata said: "I can only feel immense pleasure at the significant strides the company has made in recent years." He added that the company had moved from an emerging entrant to one of the prominent players in the fashion sector.
