Key Facts
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries reported an 11.9% year-on-year increase in revenue from operations to 16,198.71 crore rupees in the quarter ended September 2026, compared with 14,478.31 crore rupees a year earlier. By contrast, profit before exceptional items and tax rose 6.3% to 4,428.2 crore rupees, according to the company’s results reported by NDTV Profit. The company booked expenses related to its proposed acquisition of Organon during the quarter. Those expenses amounted to 346.16 crore rupees, according to a Moneycontrol report. The company said additional deal-related costs are expected in subsequent periods.
Revenue growth came amid mixed performance across the company’s main markets. U.S. sales of pharmaceutical formulations fell 8.2% year on year to 455 million dollars during the quarter. The U.S. market accounted for about 27% of consolidated sales, according to NDTV Profit. By contrast, formulation sales grew in India and emerging markets, according to the correction published on the quarter’s results. Managing Director Kirti Ganorkar said performance benefited from strong momentum in India, emerging markets and the rest of the world.
Research and development spending was 778.4 crore rupees, equivalent to 4.8% of sales, according to NDTV Profit. This spending places development activity among the quarter’s operating performance items, alongside revenue growth and differing sales trends across markets. The available results information did not provide a breakdown of the spending across research programs. On the deal, the company said planning for Organon integration was proceeding as planned. It added that regulatory approvals had been obtained in most regions, while proceedings in the remaining jurisdictions were on schedule.
Organon shareholders approved the deal on 23 July 2026, according to Sun Pharma’s presentation on the quarter’s results. The presentation said some regulatory approvals were still pending and set the proposed deal completion for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027. In a drug development update, Sun Pharma said ILUMYA had received U.S. approval to treat adults with active psoriatic arthritis. The presentation also included topline data for GL0034, a treatment for type 2 diabetes, among upcoming milestones. The company expects those data in the second half of 2027 and also listed the start of a Phase III trial for Fibromun to treat soft tissue sarcoma and the launch of ILUMYA for psoriatic arthritis among its next milestones.
