Reliance’s profit attributable to shareholders reaches 25,548 crore rupees in September quarter
Key Facts
Reliance Industries’ profit attributable to shareholders stood at 25,548 crore rupees in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, which ended in September, compared with 18,165 crore rupees in the same period of the previous fiscal year, The Economic Times reported. The figure pertains to the company’s shareholders’ share and is a different measure from the consolidated total profit cited in some coverage. Revenue from operations rose to 3,32,861 crore rupees in the quarter, from 2,58,898 crore rupees a year earlier, according to Upstox data. The figures show simultaneous growth in profit attributable to shareholders and revenue from operations during the period. The oil-to-chemicals segment was the group’s largest driver of operating growth.
Revenue from the oil-to-chemicals segment rose 44.2% to 2,31,601 crore rupees in the second quarter, while its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation increased 67.9% to 25,203 crore rupees, according to figures reported by PTI via The Print. Operating profit growth outpaced revenue growth, reflecting the segment’s expanding contribution to the group’s results in the September quarter. Chairman Mukesh Ambani attributed the segment’s performance to “tight fuel markets, improved spreads for downstream petrochemical products, and steady domestic demand.” These factors link conditions in fuel and petrochemical markets with demand in the domestic market. Energy and chemicals therefore accounted for the bulk of the quarter’s results, according to the figures and explanation provided by the company.
Reliance’s capital expenditure was 38,153 crore rupees in the quarter ended in September, PTI reported. Spending was focused mainly on oil, chemicals and new energy, alongside expansion of the consumer businesses’ networks, according to the same report. This spending places investment in existing businesses and new energy projects among the company’s priorities for the quarter. Ambani also pointed to continued expansion in satellite communications, intellectual property for sixth-generation technologies, and the integration of artificial intelligence into core voice and data services. He said the company was continuing work on “satellite communications, sixth-generation intellectual property, and AI integrated into core voice and data services.”
