Alpha Bank announced its third-quarter 2026 results on October 30, reporting underlying after-tax profit of €283.2 million, up 3.1% from the second quarter. The figure reflects a quarterly improvement in underlying profit, while cumulative results showed growth in the first nine months. Reported after-tax profit for that period was €766.1 million, up 8.4% year on year. Underlying profit for the nine months was €778.5 million, up 14.2% year on year. These percentages compare with the corresponding period of the previous year and do not represent outperformance against analyst expectations.

Net interest income was the main driver of the quarterly improvement, rising 8.2% to €472.2 million in the third quarter. The bank said the increase of €35.8 million came as income from loans and bonds rose. The statement linked this to growth in lending volumes and higher interest rates. By contrast, fee and commission income was €156.3 million, down 16.3% from the second quarter. The bank attributed the quarterly comparison to the previous quarter's benefit from PRODEA dividends, and said fee income rose 6.2% excluding those dividends, supported by card and payment services and asset management.

Recurring operating expenses declined quarter on quarter, falling 3.6% to €231 million in the third quarter. This came as staff costs fell 9.3% compared with the second quarter. Depreciation expenses also declined 7.2% quarter on quarter. The figures show that lower expenses coincided with growth in net interest income, while fee income was affected by the high comparison base in the previous quarter. The statement did not provide a comparison with analyst results or a figure showing that expectations were exceeded.

Investors are looking ahead to the bank's next presentation of its strategic priorities through 2030. Alpha Bank set November 5, 2026, as the date for its investor day, when it will present those priorities. The bank said in its statement: "Next week, during the investor day, we will present our strategic priorities through 2030." The event follows the nine-month results, which showed year-on-year increases in reported and underlying profit. The presentation will be the next milestone announced by the bank after its third-quarter results.
