Minerals Technologies estimated that its high-purity calcium production opportunity, intended to support a domestic rare earth minerals supply chain, could add more than $100 million to revenue in the coming years. The estimate was presented at the company’s investor day in September, according to its statement published via GlobeNewswire. The announcement places the rare earth minerals opportunity among the growth avenues the company presented to investors. In July, the company said sales grew 7% in the first half of the year and that it was on track to meet its full-year revenue targets. The CEO at the time said temporary cost inflation pressured margins, particularly in the Consumer & Specialties segment, and that pricing actions were being taken to recover them in the second half.

At the same investor day, the company presented another opportunity tied to repurposing steel slag, estimating that the addressable market in the United States exceeds $250 million. It said the technology could enable similar opportunities in other waste streams, broadening its potential applications. These figures remain company estimates and indicate the scale of the opportunities it identified in its investor presentation. In the broader economy, U.S. real GDP grew at an annual rate of 3.4% in the third quarter, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis’ advance estimate. That followed growth of 2.2% in the second quarter. The bureau attributed the acceleration mainly to faster investment growth and a return to growth in government spending, partly offset by a decline in exports.

Minerals Technologies is scheduled to hold its third-quarter earnings call on October 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. Eastern time, according to its investor relations page. In economic data, the Bureau of Economic Analysis had set November 25, 2026, as the release date for its second estimate of third-quarter GDP growth. The company’s shares, MTX, closed at $61.93 on October 28, 2026, according to EL7 data. In July, the CEO linked first-half sales growth to the company’s path toward meeting its full-year revenue targets. He also said the company had taken pricing actions to address cost pressures on margins in the second half.
