Japan’s Sanyo Denki raised its forecast for the first half of fiscal 2027, spanning April to September 2026, on Oct. 28 after demand increased across several sectors, Kabutan reported, citing a company statement. The operating profit forecast rose to ¥8,956 million from ¥7,570 million, an increase of 18.3% from the previous outlook. The company also raised its revenue forecast to ¥66,016 million from ¥62,750 million, an increase of 5.2%. Its net profit forecast rose to ¥6,361 million from ¥5,600 million, an increase of 13.6%. The revision means the company improved its outlook for the half-year period; it did not announce actual second-quarter results.

The year-on-year comparison in the forecast shows expected first-half net profit of ¥6,361 million, compared with ¥3,509 million in the same period a year earlier. That implies expected annual net profit growth of 81.3%. The company forecasts revenue of ¥66,016 million for the same period, compared with ¥50,784 million a year earlier, an expected annual increase of 30.0%. The comparison also puts forecast operating profit at ¥8,956 million, compared with ¥4,848 million, an increase of 84.7%. Forecast pretax profit is ¥8,904 million, compared with ¥4,937 million, up 80.4%, according to figures reported by Kabutan.

The company attributed the higher forecasts to increased demand for communications equipment, robotics and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. It also cited demand related to industrial automation and generative AI, saying expected revenue and profits exceeded its previous estimates. Its statement said, "Demand increased in communications equipment and robotics, industrial automation, including semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and sectors related to generative AI." The company said these areas underpin its revised first-half forecasts. It did not cite operational efficiency among the reasons for the revision.

On shareholder returns, Sanyo Denki raised its expected interim dividend for fiscal 2027 to ¥90 per share from ¥80. It also increased its expected year-end dividend to ¥110 per share from ¥90. That brought its expected annual dividend to ¥200 per share. The company said in its announcement that it had increased both the interim and year-end dividends from its previous plan. The dividend increases accompanied the higher profit forecasts, revising expectations for both financial performance and cash returns per share.

The company’s shares closed at ¥5,270 on Oct. 28, up 6.79% from the previous close, with 425.60 thousand shares traded, according to Investing.com data.
